Dean Caban

Dean Caban has been instructing skating and skills sessions since the early age of 15. Dean played 2 years in the KIJHL for the Osoyoos Heat then soon found his passion in coaching. He was a skating coach with Edge of Excellence for over 18 years, 15 years as a head skating instructor. He has worked with players from all over North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. For the past 12 years Dean has been a Head Coach with the Pursuit of Excellence. He specialized in working with the top Bantam AAA team and has moved on dozens of players from the hockey academy to WHL, Jr.A, Jr.B, NCAA and Pro. Dean has worked with many NHL players including Vancouver Canucks, Calgary flames, Philadelphia flyers and Dallas stars. Dean holds every single player accountable for their efforts and reinforces the importance of respect, handwork and determination. Dean has a unique way of getting the most out of each player and doesn’t settle for anything less than their best effort.

A true teacher at heart, that has been able to combine his passion for hockey and skill development model into reaching players at all levels and ages. Dean has extensive experience in breaking down players stride and skating mechanics. Hundreds of hours spent in the video room analyzing players skating technique, body position, etc, have given Dean a keen eye to quickly recognize a players flaws in their skating while building upon the good habits which already exist. Deans hockey experiences have allowed him to work with and learn from some of the best coaches around such as Andy Murray, Mike Johnston, Sean Skinner (stick handling Guru), and many more. Dean Has a hunger for knowledge and continues to seek out and develop new innovative techniques in his skill development model.

Jenna Caban

Jenna was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB and just recently made the move to Kelowna. Jenna received a full scholarship to the University of Maine where she played hockey for 4 years as a Maine Black Bear! She completed her Kinesiology and Education Degree with honours in 2010. After graduating as International Student Athlete of the year, she gratefully accepted the opportunity to play Professional Hockey in Switzerland. In Switzerland she played hockey for the Professional Club DHC Langenthal and also taught Power skating with youth minor hockey.

Jenna has a strong passion for hockey and she specializes in working with young hockey players on and off the ice to help get them to the next level. Along with her degree in Kinesiology, Jenna has had the opportunity to learn from some high end strength and skills coaches who are currently with NHL organizations today. She is very grateful for these experiences, as they have given her a wealth of knowledge when it comes to working on and off the ice with players. Jenna is still continuing to learn new information everyday.

Jenna is very passionate, positive and has a knack for motivated young athletes to help them achieve their dreams and improve their skating and skills on the ice!

Lauren Spring

Lauren grew up in Kelowna, BC  where she discovered her love and passion for hockey. Here, she started to pursue her dreams in hockey. At the age of 14 years old Lauren represented Team BC at the 2011 Canada Winder Games. From then on she continued to play for Team BC from the age 14 to 18 and was named Captain her last two years.

She soon started to see her dreams insight when she received an invite to try out for Team Canada’s U18 group. Lauren’s strong work ethic earned her a spot in the line up to represent Canada at the IIHF World Championships in Budapest. That year, she brought home the Gold medal to Canadian soil! Lauren soon received a Full 4 Year Scholarship to Ohio State University where she has almost completed her first year! In her freshman year Lauren received Rookie of the week in her division. Lauren is currently completing her Education and Kinesiology degree and is looking forward to teaching and working with youth to give back all this game has given to her. Lauren is excited to work with some highly qualified coaches where she can still be in an environment to learn but also to give back to the kids! She is a great addition to our team!

Hugh Dunlop

Hugh joins the Dynamic team from Cornwall, ON where he currently serves as the Video Coordinator for the Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA), a prep school located in Cornwall, ON. Prior to that, he served in a similar capacity alongside Dean Caban at the Pursuit of Excellence in Kelowna, BC. He has also worked with teams in the BCHL & AJHL, as well as assisting teams at both the major junior levels and NHL. His background and knowledge when it comes video & analysis is a welcome addition to the Dynamic team.
